New vacuum furnace taken into operation at Listemann Winterthur

By the end of 2008 a new vacuum furnace from the furnace manufacturer  Schmetz GmbH was taken into operation at Listemann Winterthur. The top-loader furnace having a work space with diameter 1200mm and height 1500mm is designated as large-capacity facility.

The maximum furnace temperature can be up to 1450° C. The furnace is equipped with a high vacuum pumping unit, but can operate also under convection in a protective gas atmosphere. Highest efficiency can be achieved for all heat treatment processes. Applying nitrogen or argon as protective gases, besides many premium steel grades, also sensitive nickel-based alloys or titanium grades can be heat treated. Furthermore the furnace is equipped with a high-pressure gas quenching. As an outstanding specialty the furnace has a rotatable bottom plate, which allows a rotation of the load during cooling. The main advantage of this system is given in the heat treatment...
